I enjoyed reading this portion of your business plan. In your business plan you stated that your start up team would consist of family members who share the same ethics and values as Christians and as workers. I believe that this plays a significant role of determining if you should work with individuals in your family. However, it is not the only significant factor when choosing family members for your business. All family members want their family business to succeed and may share the same ethic values but is the job really for them is questions that need to be addressed. Many family business consultants say the primary reason for this low survival rate and why some families don't work well together is the failure to put in place a strategic plan and set of guidelines. Family members can be part owners of the business, but that doesn't mean that they have to work inside the company, says Jane Hilburt-Davis, president of Cambridge-based Key Resources and co-author of Consulting to Family Businesses. "The door for family employment should not be open to everyone," she warns. "Don't create a position; it can't be a situation where someone won't make it out in the world on their own unless you give them a job in the family business." You want to prep and hire family members because they have a set of skills that the business needs ( (Brown, 2012).
