Cap for Steve
“To be a good father requires that the parents defer many of their own needs and desires in favor of the needs of their children. As a consequence of this sacrifice, conscientious parents develop a nobility of character and learn to put into practice the selfless truths taught by savoir himself” quote by James Faust. The short story “A Cap for Steve” is about a young boy and his relation with his father written by Morley Callaghan. Dave has forced to show strict love towards his son so he can make ends meet. Strict love has strained Dave relationship with his son as well made it difficult for Steve to follow his passion for baseball. Strict Love also affected Dave, as he struggles to express his feelings towards his son. Dave has to let go of his struggles and realize he has to be a true father to son so there relationship can improve. This short story ironically revels strict love may interfere with a loving caring relationship but once you love someone for what he truly is it can change both lives for better.
Strict love has strained Dave relationship with his son. Most families eat dinner together and are involved with their parents but in Cap for Steve ,Dave is working most of the week trying to make enough money to make ends meet and this has caused Steve to be with his mother most the time and not his father. When Dave is at home he doesn’t spend time with his son but criticizes him for wasting time playing outside and not doing work. Dave is poor and has to be strict and doesn’t spend money on anything fun which causes Steve to show animosity towards his father. Only once in the story has Steve enjoyed spending time with his father and that was when he went to the baseball game but the father regretted paying and going to the game .Steve has a good relationship with his mother because he spends time with her and she understands him while Dave and Steve don’t communicate with each other or spend time. Dave and Steve do not see eye to eye on many things which also put a strain on their relationship. Dave has forced himself to be strict so he can make ends meet but it also affected his relation with his son.
Strict love has made it difficult for Steve to follow his passion for baseball. Steve loves baseball but his father made it difficult from him to follow his passion. Dave discourages Steve playing baseball an example is when he says “Around the house he wouldn’t let Steve talk about baseball, and he scowled when he saw him hurrying off with his glove after dinner “.The baseball cap Eddie Condom gave Steve is what motivated Steve to follow his passion. The cap took the place of a father as it supported him every day in life. Dave also didn’t want to spend money for baseball equipment which also affected Steve to show his full potential. Dave showed strict love towards his son which affected him to follow his passion for baseball.
Dave struggles to express his feelings towards to his son because he does not want to accept Steve for what he truly is. Dave wanted a hardworking boy but Steve is still young and wants to be adventures and have fun. Steve does not value money and this frustrates Dave because he really poor and struggles to make ends meet.” Dave was surprised that his own shy boy did not back away. He watched him clutch the cap in his left hand, half crying with
how to make every dollar count in his home. He has a son named Steve who is crazy about baseball. When the Phillies comes to town to play an exhibition game with the home team, Dave refuse to take Steve to the game because it is expensive for them, but Steve has his mother on his side so they make a bargain: If Steve works hard helping his dad to make kitchen shelves after school he would earn an opportunity to go watch the game. Steve helps his father and earns the chance to watch the game, even…

Water and Life on Mars Mars perhaps first caught public interest in the late 1870s, when Italian astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli reported using a telescope to observe canali, or channels, on Mars. By the turn of the century, popular songs told of sending messages between Earth and Mars by means of huge signal mirrors. On a darker side, H.G. but Forbes doesn't have to do this with rich people because for them reading about business is fun. The highly-opinionated editorials section is one of the most popular sections. Although most people like the honesty and candidness, I think that Steve Forbes tends to come off like a know-it-all. He constantly proposes one-size-fits-all solutions. For example, he thinks that a strong dollar is a cure-all for the economy. He doesn't realize that the primary force that influences the US economy is…
