TABLE OF CONTENTS
As can be seen from the diagram 1, the court of appeal is the highest court in Singapore where all of the decisions making are binding on all of the lower courts, which are High court, and Sub-ordinate courts. Below the Court of Appeal is High Court at which it bound on the decision of the Court of Appeal. High Court may not necessary follow its own prior decision unless it wants to maintain certainty and consistency in the decision-making. Apart from High Court, there is Sub-ordinate Court, which is under the High Court. The decision made in the Sub-ordinate Court is not binding on higher court. Also, the sub-ordinate court does not have to follow its own precedent decision (Stare Decisis). Moreover, Sub-ordinate Court is divided into eleven different types of court. Those are District Courts, Magistrates' Court, Family Court, Juvenile Court, Coroners' Court, Traffic Court, Criminal Mentions Court, Filter Court, Centralized Sentencing Court, Night Criminal Mentions Court and Small Claims Tribunals. District Court deals with both criminal and civil cases. For criminal cases, imprisonment not exceeding 7 years and fine not more than $10 000 and penalty up to 12 strokes of cane. Whereas civil cases, fine not more than $60 000 but less than $250 000. Similarly, Magistrates' Court also hear for both civil and criminal cases, and the maximum fine in civil cases is $60 000. However, imprisonment for committed criminal offences is not beyond 3 years whereas fine not above $2000 and up to 6 stokes of the cane. If there are any issues related to family's problems such as divorce, adoption, maintenance, custody and other related matters must go to Family Court. For the criminal offences committed by person below the age of 16 has to go through the Juvenile Court. What's more, the court that investigates unknown cause of death case is Coroner court. The court that copes with fresh traffic arrest case, for instance: drunk is under the obligation of the Traffic Court. Criminal Mentions Court is where it deals with cases at which the prosecution is ready to officially charge an accused person in court with no longer than 48 hours after arrested, while Filter Court looks at the Disposal inquiry, Night Court cases and other complicated cases which required one day of trail. the Congress can regulate a local business if doing so is in the national interest. This includes situations where the actions of many small businesses taken together could have an inter-state effect. In Heart of Atlanta Motel v. Even though it is a local business, the Congress has the power to regulate…

Business Law “The doctrine laid down in Salomon v Salomon & Co Ltd [1897] AC 22 has to be watched very carefully. It has often been supposed to cast a veil on the personality of a limited company through which the courts cannot see. But that is not true. The courts can, and often do, draw aside the veil. They can, and often do, pull off the mark. They look to see what really lies behind” - Lord Denning in Littlewoods Mail Order Stores v Inland revenue Commissioners [1969] 3 All ER 422.…
