Smoking cigarettes is a serious problem among millions of people not only in the United

States but all around the world. Cigarette smoking is highley addictive and causes several health

problems and can even cause death. Some of the most damaging health effects from smoking

cigarettes can include osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and lung cancer.

Smoking is one of many factors including weight, alcohol consumption, and activity level that

increase your risk for osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones weaken and

disease. Cardiovascular disease is also called heart diease and is a class of diseases that involve the

heart, the blood vessels or sometimes both. The chemicals in tobacco smoke harm your blood

cells. They also can damage the function of your heart and the structure and function of your blood

Do not ever start smoking. If you already smoke, quit. No matter how much or how long a person

has smoked, quitting will benefit.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide in men, and second most common in

women. Using other tobacco products such as cigars or pipes also increases the risk for lung
