Deception Corruption leads to evil and easily manipulates the weak-minded, blindly leading them to their horrible truths and injustice. Malcolm, King Duncan’s son, has just come back from a battle that Macbeth, the tragic hero and Banqou, Macbeth’s best friend, fought. He brings news of the battle on how brave Macbeth and Banqou fought two battles in one day and still won the battle. As Macbeth comes home, he strangely meets the Weird sisters, the three witches, who provide Macbeth with prophecies of him becoming a king while Banqou’s should be as happy due to the fact that his children shall be kings also. Macbeth easily falls into the witches’ traps as he begins to think dark thoughts about the king and asks his wife, Lady Macbeth, for advice. Lady Macbeth quickly jumps into action and persuades Macbeth into killing King Duncan, his beloved King, as a way of reaching the chance of ruling Scotland as king. They soon develop a plan to kill King Duncan, which has Macbeth bittersweet in the choice. On the verge of insanity, Macbeth regains his thoughts and finally decides on killing King Duncan. As Malcolm learns about his father’s murder, he knows that among them there is a murderer and he does not believe Macbeth at all. People become wary of Macbeth because of his random hallucinations, he slowly begins to hint out the truth about the murder. Lady Macbeth also loses her conscious and mindset and slowly falls into the pit of guilt ending on her death. At the very end, justice is won and Macbeth is killed fulfilling the prophecies that the witch has provided him. In William Shakespeare’s play, Macbeth, the characters Lady Macbeth, Macbeth and Malcolm present the idea things do not always appear as it seems or rather than, “Fair is foul and foul is fair (Act I Scene 1 Line 10 Page 2). Malcolm provides the fact that a few simple events can turn a simple innocent son turn into a man. Lady Macbeth has the fact that she at first can feel like a soaring bird with great courage, but as time passes by, so will her consciousness. Last but not least, Macbeth, he may be at first the good guy in this story, but as he slowly progresses into his great ambition for the throne, he has no power left to get out of the hole he dug himself in. Lady Macbeth, Macbeth’s wife, shows that at first, things may seem great but as the time gets too you, so will your wrongdoings. Lady Macbeth tries to persuade Macbeth onto killing Duncan, which manipulates Macbeth into an evil man when she states, “We fail? But screw your courage to the sticking place And we’ll not fail” (Act I Scene 7 Line 70 Page 43). Lady Macbeth is shown as a manipulator and a persuader because of the way she is able to manipulate Macbeth just by words and by pressure. She is providing reasons why Macbeth should be able to man up and kill King Duncan for her love and for himself, while Macbeth is trying to object on her wrong ideas. At the end, Lady Macbeth loses herself in her pit of guilt when she is seen stuck in a sleeplike trance stating, “Here’s the smell of the blood still. All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand” (Act V Scene 1 Line 55 Page 163). The fearless woman before is gone, she is now stuck in her own pit filled with guilt and blood of other people. She can’t decide whether all of this blood spilled is on her because of the monster she has created called Macbeth so she is stuck in her delusional state of mind. Macbeth has many themes that provide its true meaning to people, but these characters have provided the fact that everything in the end may not be as good as everything in the beginning Macbeth is used as an example in the next body paragraph. As a few simple prophecies have the curious Macbeth into the hands of the deceitful witches, Macbeth slowly falls into his ambition for the crown.
