December 16, 2001 Baseball is a sport that has been around for a very long time, and is still very popular all over the world. Trudie Engel shows in the book “We’ll Never Forget You, Roberto Clemente”, how one man named Roberto Clemente can make a huge difference for people and how the game is played. This book was published by Scholastic Inc. and published in 1996. This book demonstrates that anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it, one person can influence many people, and the color of someone’s skin does not matter. If I were to rate this book, I would rate it very highly because it is very easy to understand and motivated me never give up. Roberto Clemente grew up in a small place with no money at all. He and his friends couldn’t afford a baseball bat or a baseball, so they used a broom stick for the baseball bat, and a tin can for the baseball. Roberto friends say that he was much better than everyone he played with in his town, and also said everyone knew he was born to be a baseball player. One day while he and his friends were playing ball, a scout noticed him playing and was surprised by how good of an athlete he was. The scout told him to try out for a baseball team down town. Roberto tried out and made the team, and was the only black guy to make it. He got good enough to play for major league teams and was very good. He was a great player and made MVP one year.
