When God spoke to the man he showed power and superiority. God gave the man a command and told him that if he eats from the tree of good and evil then he will die. In fact, God showed power throughout stories of Genesis such as the great flood and the command to sacrifice Isaac. Therefore, as I started reading the bible I noticed how omniscient God is, because of all the power he has when he created the heavens and the earth and the power that God had when he made the man from the dust in the ground explains how powerful and superior he is in Genesis. Soon, God felt as though the man should not be alone and should have someone in the garden to comfort him. God caused the man to fall asleep so that he can take the rib of the man, and make it into a woman who God named Eve. Eve was tricked by a serpent, a tempestuous animal, which God had created and was told that eating from the tree in the middle of the garden would only help Eve see things like God and would that she would be superior like God. Although, Eve knew she was not supposed to eat from the tree of good and evil, Eve and her husband ate from the tree. Furthermore, God spoke to Adam and Eve with anger and Adam and Eve were remorseful due to the fact that they ate out of the tree. God spoke to the serpent, “Because you have done this cursed are you among all animals and among all wild creature upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat, all the days of your life” (Gen. 3:14). I believe this emphasizes on God being kind of like the judge and the juror on earth, because God judges Adam and Eve based off the sin they committed and punished them and laid down a law for generations and generations. In this story of Genesis, I realized God presents his authority and power to the rest of the world. On the other hand, the serpent also receives a punishment in which the serpent is cursed and will forever live on upon its belly. Furthermore, God continues to show different traits in the stories of Genesis. After Adam and Eve and their disobedience towards God, Adam and Eve conceived two sons, Cain and Abel. Abel provided for sheep and Cain was a tiller of the ground just like his father Adam. Later in time, Cain and Abel sacrifice offerings unto God. Cain’s offering did not seem well prepared but Abel’s offering was favored by God. Cain was upset about God favoring Abel’s offering more than his offering, so he took Abel in the field and killed him. God spoke to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel? He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?” And the Lord said, ‘What have you done? Listen your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground! And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother blood from your hand” (Gen. 4:9- Gen. 4:11). As God speaks to Cain, he speaks as though he has no clue where Abel is; he tries to test Cain honesty by asking Cain where is his brother to see if he will tell the truth. Then God lays down the punishment for Cain but Cain becomes afraid because he thinks that when he leaves for a different land someone will kill him. Then God say to Cain, “Not so! Whoever kills Cain will suffer a sevenfold vengeances” (Gen. 4:15). As the first stories in Genesis, God shows his power, superiority and authority all in one command. God also shows compassion to Cain; although Cain killed Abel God makes sure that Cain does not get killed but to live through his punishment. Analyzing God in this story revealed to me that God showed more than just favoritism towards Abel but not to mention his also showed compassion towards Abel. God knew that the offering that Abel gave to God was out of the kindness and tenderness. Unlike Cain, God knew that his offering was not in good intentions. God shows compassion towards Abel because of his offering which is the reason why Cain felt as though God was favoring Abel. The biblical story of The Great Flood holds a significant part in Genesis. Later on earth, God saw
