The relevance to science/chemistry with this article is that, scientists conducted experiments to find a cure/treatment for children under going Down syndrome.
Summary: The article “A 'cure' for Down's syndrome? Scientists have discovered a compound that reverses learning difficulties caused by the condition” is about a compound used to reverse learning disabilities. This treatment was led by Professor Roger Reeves at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, in Baltimore. It was found that the compound boosts extremely, including the learning ability and memory by being tested by mice with a Down’s syndrome-like condition. They found that a single dose helps the cerebellum of the rodents’ brains to grow to a normal size. For humans, most people with Down syndrome have a cerebellum that is only 60 per cent of the normal size. The scientists involved in the research have warned that use of the compound which is a small molecule scientifically known as a “sonic hedgehog pathway agonist”, has not been proved safe for use in people with Down's syndrome, but say their experiments hold promise for developing drugs like it the “cure” they have found within the mice.
My opinion on this article is that this treatment can be useful for those with children who have Down syndrome and would like an easier future, and lifestyle for their child. My reaction to the cure is that
Karsyn McClain B1 2/18/15 “Counting fish teeth reveals regulatory DNA changes behind rapid evolution, adaptation” Biologynews.net Sticklebacks are the “roaches” of the fish world. They can evolve and adapt very quickly. They have moved from fresh water to salt water locations, and with each move they change their bodies to adapt to the environment. When scientist crossed a salt water and a fresh water stickleback they noticed that fresh water fish had double the amount of teeth…
Modern History A well developed and well supported argument rather than a narration of events, will bring success in Modern History. You should be prepared to argue your case in the exam. Key Advice Be very familiar with the syllabus requirements of each topic. Know all the key features and concepts. The questions are based on the features, concepts, and content points in the syllabus, so your responses should reflect them. Look carefully at how questions are constructed. If a question requires you…
Resubmission Next- Michael Crichton A biology researcher, Henry, studies the behavior and genetics of different animals. Henry conducts and experiment where he illegally injects human genes into a chimpanzee, creating a transgenetic chimp. The chimp, Dave, takes on most traits of a human child, including the ability to speak and communicate with other humans. One of Dave’s many downfalls is his habit of reverting back to chimp behaviour when…

Current event #7 University of Southampton. (2015, March 1). Genetics reveals where emperor penguins survived the last ice age. March 4, 2015 Retrieved from Science Daily The main topic of this article is about a study on the survival and distribution of Emperor Penguin populations over the last 30,000 before and after the last ice age. Scientists found that only three populations may have survived that ice age, and that the Ross Sea was most likely one of the places one of these populations survived…
