Winter Olympics were held every four years, and two years after each summer Olympics.
1936 Summer Olympics- was know as the Game of the XI Olympiad, in 1936 berlin won the bid to host the games over Barcelona, spain, on spain. Hilter saw the games to be an opportunity to promote his gov’t and ideals of race. In a Nazi party paper it was wriiten that blacks and jews should not participate in the games.
The United States debated should they participate in the 1936 games or to boycott. Avery Brundage of the United States Olympic Committee opposed the boycott, because the jweish athletes were being treated fairly.
American sprinters Sam Stoller and Marty Glickman, the only two Jews on the U.S. Olympic team, were pulled from the 4 × 100 relay team on the day of the competition, leading to speculation that U.S. Olympic committee leader Avery Brundage did not want to add to the embarrassment of Hitler by having two Jews win gold medals.
