Introduction to cell structure, cell physiology, genetics, and development. Prerequisite: High school chemistry, CHM 109, or CHM 115 (CHM 109 or CHM 115 may be taken concurrently). Fulfills Life Sciences Foundation. Four credits.

Course Objectives:
Explore fundamental biological concepts focusing on cell structure and function.
Continue to build, define and challenge your scientific vocabulary.
Develop a working knowledge of the nature and methods of science.
Apply your knowledge in problem solving that requires critical and creative thinking.
Establish a framework of knowledge, reasoning and study skills for future success in more advanced life sciences courses.
Gain an appreciation for the relevance of biology and science to you and society.

Laboratory:
Concurrent enrollment in a laboratory section of BIO 120 is required for successful completion of this course. Your performance in laboratory counts for 25% of your final grade. In order to pass this course you must receive 60% of total possible points in lab.

Regular attendance is required for success in this course. When absent, you are responsible for finding out what you missed in class.
