Part II

Answer the following questions in 150 to 350 words each:

• Throughout most of U.S. history in most locations, what race has been the majority? What is the common ancestral background of most members of this group?

I think the majority of the race has been blacks. Blacks have gone back all the way since slavery. They were slaves for the white families. They had to obey the white families and had to cook, clean, and watch their children for so many hours a day. They were treated wrong. Thank God one man spoke up and Rosa Parks also stood up for their race. It was time that blacks were treated equally. Today we see racism to this day. The major racial or ethnic categories in American society are white, blacks, Hispanic, Native Americans and Asian. Racism is an insidious problem in the United States since the beginning of time. They have taken pretty much over the whites. Each day we see new thing and experience new things also. Blacks started back in slavery, Hispanics since their countries are poor and need to come to United States illegally to come and make money so they can support their families. We are seeing more and more also of Asians also today. They also come here to work for better jobs here or have to travel back and forth for jobs or also just want a change of lifestyle.

• In what ways have laws been used to enforce discrimination? Provide examples. These laws were
