Hi my name is Victor and I’ll be talking about Anorexia. What is Anorexia? Anorexia (aka Anorexia Nervosa) is an eating disorder. An eating disorder is categorized as when you eat or don’t, and it affects your health in a negative manner. The difference from a healthy diet and Anorexia, is that when you have a healthy diet, you want to control how others view your body through your weight. If you have anorexia, you try to control your emotions and life through your body weight. There are 2 types of anorexia. One is the restricting type where people would avoid eating, go on an extreme diet, or even overly exercise. The other, purging type anorexia, is when you force yourself to vomit, take laxatives, and diuretics. Signs and symptoms vary from going to the bathroom many times during and after eating to throw up all the way to check nutrient facts on everything to only eat low calorie foods. If your friend tells you that he thinks he’s fat, when you think he’s about to starve to death, you can be pretty confident that he has anorexia. Effects include slower memory, depression, mood swings, constipation, bloating, dizziness, lack of energy, dry, yellowish skin, the menstrual cycle may stop, having trouble getting pregnant, and there is a higher chance of miscarriage. If you notice any of these effects happening to you, you may want to confess to someone. Well, not to a random person on the street, but to someone who will listen and help. Therapy can help you, as anorexia is a form of “denial”. So, if you or someone you know has anorexia, get you or them professional help because anorexia is a serious disorder. Thank you for listen to my presentation.
