Contemporary Readings for Writers. Boston, MA: Bedford/St. Martins, 2010. 401-38. Print.
Spar’s essay offers a lot of facts concerning the adoption market such as how it works and how it is affected by economic principles. She deals with the concept of “buying” children, and she focuses on the ethics involved in adoption, as well as the role money plays in the market. Spar’s essay makes us aware of the many aspects that exist in the adoption market, and reading it can inspire people to adopt and improve the lives of children. It provides many hints on how economics can play a part that will improve the practices of international adoption.
Gilbert, Daniel. "Reporting Live from Tomorrow." Emerging: Contemporary Readings for
Writers. Boston, MA: Bedford/St. Martins, 2010. 169-89. Print.
Gilbert’s essay offers advice on how people can improve the accuracy of their future predictions. Through his article, Gilbert explains why people are so susceptible to make many mistakes based on inaccurate beliefs, and suggests that the best way for people to predict the future accurately is to rely on surrogates. One can infer that a human being’s main goal in life is to be happy as Gilbert states “we all want to be happy” (169). However, his article “cautions us about predicting our future happiness, and in the process provides the tools we need to correct our misappropriations” (169). The fact that adoption is to an extent related to happiness and surrogates tells us why this article can help develop the paper on the economics involved in adoption.

Child Welfare 85.3 (2006): 559-583. CINAHL Plus with Full Text. Web. 27 Mar. 2013.
This article offers an economic analysis of adoption from foster care, while emphasizing on why it is important for all waiting children to be adopted. The authors provide solutions on how the foster system could be improved, and one of them is the use of subsidies. The funding of adoption assistance along with Intercountry adoption appear to be the determinants of adoption in the foster care system. The article infers that the economics involved in the practice of adoption should be improved for the sake of children. While the foster care system has many flaws, it can help improve international adoption
