Web. 29 Sept. 2014. A study was performed to determine listeners’ perception of emotional cues in music of different cultures. The investigation included thirty, Western listeners ranking “the degrees of joy, sadness, anger, and peace” of twelve Hindustani musical excepts. Results indicated a comprehension of emotional expression through music despite unfamiliar tonal systems. This text will provide experimental evidence of music perception in foreign cultures that directly relates to our topic of the globalization of music psychology.

Web. 29 Sept. 2014. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between media consumption and foreign perception of America in Hong Kong, China, and Singapore. Findings concluded that foreign TV, radio, newspaper, and movie exposure was directly linked to a negative perception of American culture exhibited in all test subjects. This article provides information on media exposure and foreign perception as well as focus on direct evidence of music attention.
