This article tells of how the rates of domestic violence in LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi- Sexual, Transgender) relationships are statistically speaking the same as heterosexual relationships. It discusses the lack of services for LGBT domestic violence victims. Outing, isolation and safety in shelters are just some of the issues LGBT domestic violence victims face. In this article the legal protections for LGBT domestic violence victims is divided in three categories clearly unavailable, neutrally available and affirmatively available.

Brennan-Ing, M., seidel, L., B., & Karpiak, S.E. (2014). Social care networks and older LGBT adults: challenges for the future. Journal of Homosexuality, 61(1), 21-52. This is an excellent resource for statics that suggest that older LGBT adults underutilize health and social services that are important in maintaining independence and quality of life. Using a mixed-method approach the study explored the social care network of the older LGBT population. Analysis showed there were unmet needs for basic support such as housing help with entitlements and economic although discussion of implications of senior programs and policies are being discussed.

Rotondi, N.K. (2012). Depression in trans people: A review of the risk factors. International Journal of Transgenerism, 13(3), 104-116. This article is excellent article that focuses on depression and how it is understudied in trans people (transgender, transsexual or transitioned). This article reveals eight factors relevant to the trans community. The eight factors are disclosure, discrimination, hormones and sex reassignment, identity support, socioeconomic factors, sociodemographics, and access to health and social services. Depression in trans people is a multifaceted condition and not explained by one factor. Understanding such difficulties help bring about appropriate mental health care for trans people.
