Angels Advocate Women’s Rights
Women should not have the right to vote, let alone have equal rights as men. Women having equal rights as men go against tradition when you had the ordinary stay at home housewife who cooked for the family, cleaned laundry, clean dishes, and take care of the kids. With women taking on these jobs outside of being a housewife, men are looking at them with a whole new demeanor. Jobs are allowing women to become independent and feeling no use of a man. Now that women feel they can do everything a man can do they believe they can vote, well women are not stable enough to make drastic decisions.
First, women let their emotions get in between their decision making, they may vote because of how good the candidates look. A situation being the debates between President Richard Nixon and President John F. Kennedy, where they saw Nixon as an “Old” and “Sweaty” and Kennedy as the good-looking type so voted in his favor. Next, women who are married will only vote in favor of their spouse so it’s no point of having two votes for one household. Furthermore, the International Christian Institute says in regards to a woman’s right to vote; if husband and wife are truly “one flesh” and the husband is doing his duty to represent the family to the wider community, then what practical benefit does allowing women to vote provide? If husband and wife agree on an issue, then one has simply doubled the number of votes; but the result is the same. A woman voting only makes a difference when the husband and wife disagree; a wife, who does not trust the judgment of her husband, can nullify his vote. Thus, the immediate consequence is to enshrine the will of the individual over the good of the family thus creating divisions within the family. (U.S Department of Interior)
In regards to religion, it takes away the fact that women are not equal to man, because women should carry out their roles and assist and obey the man. There are a couple passages that caught my eye; Collosians 3:18 “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord”, 1 Corinthians 14:35 “If there is anything they desire to know, let them ask their husbands at home, For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church”, 1 Corinthians 11:9 “neither was man created for woman, but woman for man”.
Next, since women are starting to step out of tradition they are starting to make equal pay with the Equal Pay Act of 1963 (EPA) that says that no matter of gender or race people shall make the same for jobs that require having equal skill. So with this women do not have to depend on men and they become more independent leading to divorces and separation which also goes against some religions.
Not only this but the divorce rate after the women’s right movement starting to increase drastically around the 1970’s. All these increases came into play after women were given the right to vote. Around the 1970’s came around the rate rocketed to 22,000 thousand according to the divorce chart. I am
