Reese Wallett Ms. Bloomfield Junior English Period 3 September 8th 2014 The American Dream There is still such thing as the “American Dream”. The American Dream is to have a good job, make enough money to live a good life, get a good education, be healthy , have a family and to live a worryfree, happy lifestyle. “
The "American dream" has powered the hopes and aspirations of Americans for generations. It began as a plain but revolutionary notion: each person has the right to pursue happiness, and the freedom to strive for a better life through hard work and fair ambition.”
(Ellis and Guettller).
The American Dream is still possible if one works hard enough and chases their goals and dreams. Some people may disagree that the
American dream does not exist, but it does. Americans do have money, good jobs, education, freedom and opportunities
Today’s modern American Dream had changed over the years. The modern meaning of the American Dream for most is becoming wealthy, being materialistic, and owning expensive items. For some it is much more deeper than owning a mansion, five lamborghini’s and a pet tiger, all sounds great but this is not what people should think of the American Dream. Some people dream of living a more simple lifestyle with just enough money and a good job to feel content. “The American Dream is suppose to mean that even the poorest of people can make it to middle class or above with hard work and dedication” (
Hargreaves
). The bible says “

(The
Declaration Of Indepence). Michael, an Austrian immigrant moved to America when he was 27 years old, he says that living in Europe restricts artistic freedom and struggles with bureaucracy .
Ever since he has moved to America, Michael says that he is now able to have freedom to express his art, he also stated that reality has lived up to his expectations and he is now living the
American Dream.
The United states has one of the best education systems in the world, America offers free education and gives anyone the opportunity to go off to college and get a good job with the right grades and scholarships. “
They imagined me going to the best schools in the land, even though they weren’t rich, because in a generous America you don’t have to be rich to achieve your potential” (Obama). For most, The ticket to the American Dream is getting into college. Being an American means that no one can be restricted of achieving goals, and in America is doesn't matter if someone is rich or poor, anyone can achieve their potential by getting into college, a

private school or even a public school. Every American citizen has the opportunity to get the education they deserve.
The opposing side of the topic is that some do not believe in the American Dream and say that it does not exist. Why is this? Many have high expectations and reality doesn't always live up to everyone's expectations. The nation has changed over the years and finding good paying jobs in todays economy is harder than ever
