America: United States and Greatest Country Essay

Although our country may have its faults, America is definitely the greatest country in the world. It is obvious that many people would greatly appreciate being able to live in America and those who do live there, are extremely fortunate. However, when thinking about this question from other country’s perspectives, it is certain that people living in many other countries around the world also feel the same way about their own country. Part of the reason for this may be because of self-serving bias, but also because of the different values people have around the world. The things that Americans value most, america has been able to provide for them, while many other countries would not be able to provide Americans with the things they consider to be important. Like Lewis and Sharon said in the video from “The Newsroom”, America has opportunity, diversity, and freedom. These are some of the main reasons why many Americans would also say America is the greatest country in the world. But, the other judge ended up coming out and giving several reasons stating why America actually is no longer the greatest country. One of these things he brought up was the fact that we are 27th in math, 22nd in science. Although his lecture may make people question whether or not America is actually the greatest country in the world, people must remember that all countries have their own flaws and individuals have different values.
