ABSTRACT
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 PURPOSE
This is a proposal to implement Natural Gas as an alternative fuel in the United States. The use of natural gas instead of gasoline will radically combat the effects of the economic crises regarding the combustible for our vehicles as suggested in this proposal.
1.2 PROBLEMS
1.2.1 High Costs The slow and seemingly inexorable rise in gas prices over the past two years has reached a fever pitch in recent months. That's taking its toll on many Americans, faced with paying more at the pump. Most of the people are cutting back on restaurant outings, shutting off cable or internet access, paring clothing budgets and even scrimping on necessities such as food. The price of a gasoline went up to almost $5 per gallon. In fact, even if the price of gasoline came down to lower than $2 per gallon in the past months, the US economy definitely cannot assure anyone that the prices won’t rise once again.
1.2.2 Lead Pollution by Gasoline
Exposure to lead can affect the central nervous system and irreversibly affect cognitive performance during childhood. Lead is also discussed to be a toxin influencing human habits enhancing the rate of criminal acts. It is therefore urgent to phase out the use of this anti-knock agent with high priority. Unfortunately even after phasing-out the use of tetraethyl-lead in gasoline, lead contamination of the environment will persist for a long time.
1.2.3 Non Renewable Resource
Petroleum is a resource that is limited in quantity and cannot be replaced quickly after use. It is produced organically which is why it is classified as fossil fuel. Fossil fuels form from the remains of plants and animals over millions of years. This resource also contains hydrocarbons or compounds of carbon and hydrogen. Stored energy collected by plants and animals from millions of years ago remains in the compounds.
2.0 DISCUSSION
2.1 IMPLEMENTATION OF NATURAL GAS
Few alternative fuels offer the distinct and unquestionable advantages of natural gas. Natural gas is widely available, renewable (through the production of biogas or biomethane), offers greenhouse gas reductions and produces fewer emissions compared to other traditional and alternative fuels. Natural gas can be used either as compressed natural gas (CNG),
Alternative gas is a made up of components other than petroleum, most times the alternative gases are made to produce less pollution in the air. Ethanol for instance, fuel is made up of corn, sugar cane, and grasses. There are different types of Ethanol like; Ethanol10 and Ethanol15 “are blends of ethanol and gasoline—the number after the "E" indicates the percentage of ethanol.” (fueleconomy.gov,2007) There are also gases like Biodiesel, It’s produced through vegetable oils, and animal fat. These…
Alternative Fuels This day in age, one of the world's main concerns is energy. Currently, we rely on petroleum to run our cars, and household central heat, and electricity in our homes. Petroleum is not only limited, but it is also dirtying up the world's air, and depleting the ozone layer as it is burned. Alternative fuels are one of the worlds most talked about issues, and many solutions have been brought forth, yet none of them have been sophisticatedly acted upon. Through the list of pros…
of researching and producing alternative fuels ranges the gambit from affordable and moderately expensive to pricey and outrageously unaffordable. Some of the renewable fuels such as biodiesel and ethanol have prices that are very similar to regular petroleum gasoline (US Department of Energy, 2009); however the facts that the fuels are renewable, as well as produce less pollution are definite incentives for those that are concerned about the environment. Some fuels are still experimental and while…
Alternative Fuels Research Fossil-fuels greatly contribute to the world’s global warming, smog, and other environmental problems. Development of alternative fuel sources has prompted individuals and companies to use fewer fossil fuels within the last 10 years; using alternative fuels benefits the environment in many ways. Humanity has an obligation to the environment and to the future generations to explore as many fuel options possible. Alternative fuel is derived from resources other than…

WALD National Petroleum CouncilThe red bars reflect 2010 consumption and the yellow bars the range of possible consumption in 2050. While a variety of new fuel technologies are advancing, policy makers can be assured that the internal combustion engine will remain dominant for decades, the National Petroleum Council told the Department of Energy on Wednesday in a report. The report from the council…
CHE121L 30 March 2014 Alternative Fuel Grant Proposal At Bay Path University, many students are concerned not only about their transportation but also the impact they have on the environment. With a new grant for a more ecofriendly transport center on campus, both areas can be addressed. The current shuttle service can be updated to run on ethanol derived of plant wastes from local farms as well as waste vegetable oil from local restaurants, and this cheap but cleaner fuel will help Bay Path be a more efficient and…
besides the words telling us the information the image reinforces what the writer is conveying in his argument. The image/diagram referred to is from an article on the U.S. Department of Energy site; the article that is referred is titled “Alternative & Advanced Fuels under Ethanol – Station Locations”. By using a credible source to back up your argument it will provide you and your argument with reliability. Besides using a diagram to illustrate the argument, the articles that were chosen to provide…
Adding Alternative Fuel Vehicles to Lotus Rental Car In an effort to bring down the gasoline cost for his fleet, Lotus Car's Chief Financial Officer is looking at the possibility of adding alternative fuel vehicles to its fleet. To make a sound decision, she decided to hire a consultant firm that would review and determine if implementing the addition of alternative vehicles would benefit the company. By performing thorough research, the consultants will first perform a comparison between gas…
Instructor: Gwen Clifton by Joshua Foultz Fossil Fuels vs. Alternative Energy Fossil fuels such as oil and coal have been providing our country for generations. Roughly 85% of our domestic energy is provided by fossil fuels and 96% used in transportation with 67% of it being in electricity( Inventor's Business Daily, 2012). The big issue concerning fossil fuel is the environment. BP has had multiple oil spills in decade and the burning of this fossil fuels have depleted our ozone. America is providing…
