An abortion is a procedure that is used to end unwanted pregnancies. Abortions happen way too often in the United States. Approximately one- fifth of the 6.4 million pregnancies the happen annually in the United States end in abortion. I am totally against abortion and believe at no cost should you have in your mind that you would even want to get one. One, abortion is unethical religiously and immoral. It takes away from gods plans and affects the life of everyone around you. Two, there are more ethical and prolife methods besides abortions to deal with an unwanted pregnancy. There are other alternatives that are safer and will give the baby a chance at life. Three, abortions don’t just take the life of helpless embryo or fetus; it psychologically and physically damages your body as well. . There are medical conditions and complications that your body can go through with the procedure involved with an abortion. A baby is innocent and did not ask to be conceived. Bottom line is that abortion is a hasty and irrational decision that should be made illegal.
Even though there is no mention of abortion in the Christian Bible, it does states,” thou shalt not kill” (King James Bible, Exodus, 20 vs. 13). It depends on the religion preference to how each religion sees abortions. While some earlier writings say that Christians held different beliefs about abortion, others say that in spite of there being no mention of abortion in the New Testament, they condemned abortion at any point of pregnancy as a sin that would send you to the grave. The Catholic Church teaches that human life must be respected and protected from the moment of conception. The Catholic Church opposes any procedure whose purpose is to destroy or end the life of an embryo or fetus no matter the reason (SPUC 2013). The Protestant church views on abortion may vary depending on if they are conservative or mainline. Conservative Protestants tend to be anti-abortion whereas mainline Protestants lean towards an abortion-rights stance (SPUC 2013). African-American Protestants are much more strongly anti- abortion than white Protestants. The American Baptist Churches in the U.S.A. opposes abortion “as a means of avoiding responsibility for conception, as a primary means of birth control, and without regard for the far-reaching consequences of the act." (National Right to Life Committee. 2012). They do not have an agreement on when the life really begins or if there is a situation that calls for abortion. That is four popular religions that are also anti-abortion. Abortion is playing god even though there are many religions there is only one god. He gives life and he is the only one who is supposed to take it away. Before we came out of our mother’s womb our lives were predestined. Our whole life is already paved out for us. This is god’s plan for our life. Abortions through a monkey wrench in gods plans. What I mean by that is, when a woman has an abortion she is killing a baby that god has plans for. The baby’s path has already been put into play and by having an abortion you have put a road block in that baby’s path. Abortion is an unethical and immoral decision anyone can make when there are other alternatives left out there.
