A Rose for Emily I believe Emily murdered Homer because she was afraid that he would leave her and that him being around was very temporary. Homer was not the marrying type as stated in the story so I believe Emily killed him to keep his presence near before he even took it upon his self to leave. I don't think that Emily could stomach the fact of homer being a homosexual man! It was said in the story that Homer wasn't the marrying type and how he liked to drink at a club with the younger men. Emily didn't want to share him with another so to even prevent that from happening she killed him before another man could take him from her. One of the many other reasons I believe Emily killed homer is because she was in her thirties and all her family and neighbors looked down on her for still being single at her age, every chance that Emily had on dating was shut down by her father all her life. so when she had the chance she built a relationship with Homer for her approval and the outsiders approval.I think that Emily's father not allowing her to date or leave the house for outside activities caused her to suffer some physiological disorders, Emily's fathers presence was all she knew so after he passed she felt alone and lost so when Homer came into her life she grew attached and maybe thought about him possibly leaving her so she killed him to keep his presence near. Emily was never allowed to make a decision for her self her father controlled any and everything in her life so when he died she was kind of an lost soul. I also believed that Emily suffered from some social disorders that caused her to hold on to Hormer strong from the time she met him and after she killed him because
