A personalised Induction will always be more effective –
In this essay I will be discussing whether a personalized induction will always be more effective. I will begin by looking at how we as humans are all individual and have different preferences and taste. I will look at how we communication and how our brains work. By looking at the different modalities and type of inductions, I will see how this can affect the type of induction used. Finally looking at what information is required from the client in order to personalize an induction, and the ways in which the therapist can obtain this. I will then give my conclusion as to whether a personalised induction will always be more effective.
All humans although similar are individual and everyone has their own personality and this is part of what makes a everyone unique. Each person has different out- look on life including their beliefs, values and perspective. This can also be effected by how they have been brought up, their culture and background.
In normal conversation the words we use make up only 7% of our communication, with tone and volume coming in second at 38% and body language being 55% (Chrysalis -Module Two pg 2). Most people also use hand gestures to emphasise what they are saying. In hypnosis, as the client mainly has their eyes closed, the most important way a therapist can communicate with them is through the words they use. This is the therapist biggest tool.
The brain is the most powerful tool we as human’s have. The brain can be given a direction and it will follow it. They learn at great speed. Brain s externalise the instructions it has internally and the way we behave on the outside is a representation of how we feel inside. Brains have the ability to leave the present moment and indulge something else such as losing yourself in a good book or day dreaming. Brains can create our mental state. Brains do not stop. Brains make sense of experience and store information. Brains represent experiences received by the senses
As the brain receives information from our senses it, it assess it and stores this for later use or enables us to use it at a later stage. There are five senses which are sight, hearing, feeling, smell and taste. We use our senses in every situation, without realising it. It has been found that everyone has a preference for a particular one, this is referred to as client’s modality. However, we do use all our senses and can adjust our preferences to the situation, so clients can also change their preferred modality. The modalities are described as the following:
Kinaesthetic (Feeling)
This is all about feelings and emotions. When we feel an emotion or touch something or doing a physical activity, we are using our Kinaesthetic system. People who are kinaesthetic are able to tune into others people’s emotions. Touch before buying. Don’t mind mess
Words like Touch, smooth, gentle move, warm, cool
Saying like I know how you feel.... Hold on a moment Feling the muscles, noticing the temperature of the room
