A Great Injustice

Martin Luther King, Jr’s main argument was that “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” MLK feels that he needs to be in Birmingham because of the injustices and racism. His presence in non-violent demonstrations is his way of fighting the injustice everywhere. One way that he supports his thesis is by listing out many of the things the “white moderate”’s have done to blacks. “I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Councilor or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” that Justice;” He also gives a very good description of what its like for the children to learn the discriminations that they go threw. “and see her beginning to distort her personality by developing and unconscious bitterness toward white people. I think this statement is a good (analogy?) as anyone can relate to watching a child react to something negatively for the first time. He later addresses the concern over the blacks willingness to break lats. He justifies this by using the Supreme Court’s decision of 1945 outlawing segregations in public schools. He mentions that there are two types of laws “just and unjust” he states that “one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.” Another way that he justifies this action is by brining to light the Boston Tea Party and how it represented an act of civil disobedience.
