September 11, 2001. A day engraved into the mind of every American. 9/11 shook the world, in more ways than one.
2,996 people died in the attacks and many fatalities followed soon after. Weeks after the attacks, and the death toll was estimated at around 6,000 people. About 3000 children lost a parent and even more people-a loved one. The loss for many Americans was unbearable, and some people didn’t know how go about the gobsmacking thing that just happened to their lives. These were dark times and we were all taken aback.
A decade later, and 9/11 has left it’s deep mark. For some the wounds are healing, for others it’s still as fresh as it had been 10 years ago.
As the 10th anniversary comes around, it is highly likely that more than a million words are going to be written about 9/11 in this week alone, all in different opinions and viewpoints. People who have lost loved ones, people who were survivors, and most of all the people who stood and watched it all go down-all of them having something to say on the matter.
I believe that 9/11 has come and passed, but it has left us with tasks we are still trying to complete. From the seemingly easy task to pick up the pieces and try to carry on, to the search for justice and public safety. Security is still being tightened-up left & right, and our concern for homeland security is at an all time high. Our perception of the world and it’s people has changed to the extent that there is much more room for both hate & acceptance then there was in the years before. literally been killing and fighting against our own specie for decades. However, watching my fellow Canadians remain loyal allies to Britain by participating in the war, and ultimately being the leading factor behind their victory, did conjure up feelings of pride. Billions of men sacrificed their lives willingly, all for Canada. Unfortunately the sight of war is still a reality in 2013. While watching the battle at Passchendaele I’m frightened to think that stuff like this is still happening in the world…
successful during the war. Leaders need to be able to react to the facts and reality, not letting emotion or opinion influence their decision making. Whether it’s over-estimating your projected sales or under-estimating your enemy/ competitor, as humans we’re tempted to make important decisions based on how we wish things to be. The results are often not what we hoped for resulting in less than good consequences. After Washington takes over Boston causing the unprepared British to retreat back to their…

active participation. This isn’t to say that movies and TV are passive; they’ve been too often dismissed as such, when viewing those forms of media in fact often involves complex patterns of interpretation and meaning-making. However, the difference is still worth some attention. I want to argue that this difference has particular implications for how we as a largely civilian population understand war and reproduce the meanings we attach to it. Further, I think that how our games tell stories about…
can bungee-bounce off a blasting housetop with a firehouse wrapped around his waist. It may not be sensible, persuading or conceivable, but rather we'll get tied up with it gave we're having a decent time. This is a diversion with just about ridiculous stealth mechanics, where adversaries will overlook you in expansive light gave you evade their pathetically near-sighted cone of…
clarify something concerning myself. I'm still a Muslim; my religion is still Islam. That's my personal belief. Just as Adam Clayton Powell is a Christian minister who heads the Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York, but at the same time takes part in the political struggles to try and bring about rights to the black people in this country; and Dr. Martin Luther King is a Christian minister down in Atlanta, Georgia, who heads another organization fighting for the civil rights of black people in this…
