What is discrimination? How is discrimination different from prejudice and stereotyping?

Discrrimination os the denial of oppurtunities and equal rights to an individual or group because of prejudice or for other arbitrary reasons. Discrminiation is different from prejudice because you know the circumstances. For example, a white woman with a masters degree. This is an assest that will not hender her chances to move up in a company. On the other hand prejudice is not knowing or caring to know what education and experience she has just saying no because she is a woman who want to move up in the company. Stereotyping is different because as a white woman she is already dominant and educated. Stereotyped as an average whit woman.

What are the causes of discrimination?

The causes of discrimination come from a long line of things.Poor schools and menial jobs, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disabilities. We all are put in groups from the time we are about to be born depending on our parents insurance. Discrimination is hidden behind things that we may not notice. Have you ever been to the emergency room and had to wait for hours just to be seen and they tell you nothing is wrong? Maybe it was the kind of insurance you had. Discrimination come is many forms and can be even cause by the things you wear on your body. For instance tattoos are a way people express themselves. However, a job may think its unprofessional and deny them a job.
