Competing Values Framework The results from the Competing Values Framework describe my teamwork ability pretty well. I agree with my strongest strength being the Director because I usually always set goals and strive for them- not only for school work but for other aspects in my life. I am usually the person in the group to plan out what days we are going to get certain sections of the project complete. For our Micro Tyco project I felt it was extremely important for us to set goals for when we wanted specific sections of the project complete. For example, we had specific days where we planned for pages of our final report to be complete. I believe that planning and goal setting plays a strong part in anticipating a good grade. If you have a schedule when you’re going to complete everything it eliminates the need to cram or rush through everything the night before, which is more effective because there is less chance of minor mistakes plus you have time to edit and revise afterwards. My Competing Values Framework also shows that I am strong in the producer role. This role is all about being task orientated and work focused. Having a high interest in what you are doing makes your work easier to complete and to a higher effectiveness. If you are passionate about something you will want to do it and try to motivate others into doing this best also. A good example of this role would be if you are really interested in a specific course and project, but someone in your group only has the course as an elective and isn’t too fascinated about what they are learning, the producer role shows that group member how to make it interesting for them by motivating them to the best of their ability. There was no strong producer role during for our Micro Tyco teams because each member was highly motivated in getting a good grade and completing the task to the best of our ability. My results for the two roles that I am the least strong in are the facilitator and the innovator roles. To be a strong facilitator, someone would have to encourage team work, team building and manage interpersonal conflict. This role is important if you have group members that do not see eye to eye. I am not strong with this role because I dislike conflict all together (although something I find myself in conflicting situations.) Not everyone in a group will always get along since individuals are made with different personality traits. The reason I would not be good at managing conflictions is because when conflict occurs, I have a hard time seeing what the problem is and why that problem occurred. To work on this, I need to feel more comfortable with not always being too nice and sometimes you have to get a little mean in order to sort conflict and stand up for your point. If you
