Women on the Supreme Court

I find it interesting that only four women have ever served on the Supreme Court since its inception, in 1789. I feel that there should be a balance of opinion rather that have all male or all females making the important decisions for the country. There are currently nine Justices residing on the Supreme Court. Three of these are women. Of the 112 justices, only 4 have ever been women. That is only 3.5%!

The female justices are Sandra Day O’Connor, (retired) 1981, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 1993, Sonia Sotomayor, 2009 (also the First Hispanic) and Elena Kagan in 2010.

The Supreme Court decides on matters that effect each of us every day.

The rights of women to vote

Gay marriage rights.

Abortion

Child labor laws

Civil rights

I believe that these cases should at least an equal-gender biased. The outcome would surely be different from a mostly white, all male court versus the court we have today.

I think it is wonderful to see an age difference as well. Ranging in age from 55, Elena Kagen the youngest to to 82, Ruth Bader Ginsberg the eldest female.
