Windows 8 is a fast fluid operation systems that is optimized for touch screen hardware. User applications are organized into easy to touch tiles on the start menu and can be activated by a simple touch or mouse click. The tiled applications also update independently from each other on the start screen giving the user live updates in each app in a summarized view on the tiles. Windows 8 also has a full desktop tile that allows the user to switch from the tile mode to the traditional to a traditional Windows desktop.
Applications don't slow down your PC in Windows 8, so you don't need to close them for performance. When you're not using one of these apps, Windows will save it in the background and then close it eventually if you don't use it. If you really want to close an app from the Windows Store, you can drag it off the bottom of the screen. In addition to Defender, Windows 8 features a new system for spam and phishing called Smart Screen Filter located in the new Windows Internet Explorer 9. It works as a filter while surfing the internet and alerts the user of suspicious websites that may be trying to infiltrate the system. If a malicious website is detected, Internet Explorer 9 blocks the entire site, when appropriate. It also can do a "surgical block" of malware or phishing hosted on legitimate websites, blocking malicious pages without affecting the rest of the site. Smart Screen Filter also works with Download Manager to help protect you from malicious downloads. Potentially risky downloads are immediately blocked and then clearly identified so that you can make an informed decision to delete, run, or save the download.
Bit Locker has also changed for Windows 8, Vista and windows 7 the program was a post installation application.
