William Wordworth’s “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud”
The author begins the poem by telling his readers about his loneliness. However as the poem progresses it lessens as he stares and recognizes the movement of the daffodils. He describes how the flower moves when the wind blows. Wordworth mentions that whenever he is upset, he tries to reminisce on the beauty of the daffodils in his mind. He states that the beauty of the dance of the daffodils far surpasses the dance of the lake: “The waves beside them dance; but they outdid the sparkling waves in glee” (ll.13-14). He believes that sometimes imaginative thinking is more useful. Therefore, in the poem, he writes “I gazed and gazed – but little thought what wealth the show to me had brought” (ll.17-18). He allows us to use images to experience everything he is trying to communicate. This poem was very easy to understand due to him using words that are daily and common.
This reminds me of a time when I was younger and how I had such a creative and imaginative mindset. I used to carry this necklace my great grandmother had given me everywhere. It was the most beautiful piece of object that I had ever seen and it made from many years ago from slaves in Haiti before their independence. Any time that I was upset and I could not speak to my great grandmother I would go outside in my backyard or for walks and talk to this object. This object just made me feel so
