Constitutionalism, what is it ? Constitutionalism is the system of government in which the governing power is limited by enforceable rules of law. Power is limited by several checks and balances. Federalism and constitutionalism both have similar concepts. They both want to balance the power of the government to every branch.

The United States has a bicameral legislature; meaning the legislature is made up of two chambers. America’s legislature,also called Congress, includes the House of Representatives and the U.S Senate. The U.S Senate and House of Representatives pass laws. Some say the U.S Senate have more power, but in reality both the House and Senate have the same amount of power.

The House is made up of four hundred and thirty-five members,whom are elected by the people in it’s district. They serve for two years. They have to be twenty-five years old to be elected in the House. They have to be a U.S citizen for at least seven years and to be living in the state that they’re representing. The leader of the House is the speaker.

The U.S Senate is made up of one hundred members, whom are elected by the State Legislative. They serve for six years. Both the House and the Senate gets paid a salary. They have to be at least thirty years old to be elected in the Senate. They have to be a U.S citizen for at least nine years , and to be living in the state that they’re representing.

The British Parliament is a bicameral legislature. Parliament includes two chambers. Those two chambers are the House of Lord and the House of Commons.

The House of Lords is known as the upper house. It is made up of over seven hundred members, whom are selected by the Prime Minister. The House of Lords can return bills to the Commons for amendments or to reject the bill completely. The Lords do not get paid a salary.

The House of Commons is known as the lower house. It is made up of six hundred and fifty members, whom are voted by the people. They are elected every five years. The House of Commons represents local areas. Most bills are generated in the House of Commons. The Commons can override the Lord’s veto. The Commons are paid a salary.

America has a written constitution , while Britain doesn't. The American Constitution states what the rights of the people have, while Parliament states the rights the people do not have.
