Some examples of things that could have prevented the young lovers deaths are bravery to tell their parents that they loved someone from their rival families. Another point is someone who knew about the marriage like the Friar or the nurse could have also spoke up about the marriage, and another reason is the parents of Juliet could have realized a bit quicker that their daughter was hiding something when she was resisting so much about the marriage.
