When Knowledge Equals Power The time has finally come for history to repeat itself as it had before written that the earth would be flooded. Humans have used up all of Earth’s resources waking up an angry Mother Nature. In an attempt to reclaim what is rightfully hers she releases her fury causing water to raise above land. The sudden pools of water attack as people headed to the mountaintop for safety. Knowing the water will continue to rise the 12 people that made it to the top stand by a cabin that has one boat. The boat only has room for five people and they need to decide who will survive for the good of humankind.
For the remaining people to survive and repopulate Earth they will need food and water, proper shelter, and good health. The five individuals to stay alive must be at least two males and two females to prevent incest and birth defects. Furthermore, they must have the skills, the knowledge, and the characteristics needed to keep human in existence. Therefore, I have chosen the following survivors Dr. Dane, Ms. Ahab, Mr. Blake, Mr. Newton, and Ms. Chen.
Human life cannot exist without fueling and hydrating their body. The chances that the natural has disaster contaminated food and water sources are highly likely. Growing crops on contaminated soil could prove to be challenging. Dr. Dane is vital to the group because he has a hobby is botany. In addition, he is 37 years old, in good health and can reproduce. For those reasons, Dr. Dane is the first person to stay alive.
Others may feel Father Frans is a better choice because his experience in farming. That is a good point, but what some may not realize is that no animals exist and besides man maintains harvests and Mother Nature produces it. Knowing how to grow crops is not going to be enough. Dr. Dane has the knowledge to see healthy plants and to identify if they are edible, medicinal, or poisonous.
Repopulating the earth is going to require a young woman to carry several pregnancies and to give birth. Ms. Ahab is 28 years old, her body can expect to handle the demand, and is an electronics engineer. Ms. Ahab is a necessity and is my second choice. Yet many will probably disagree with my choice because she is a member of zero population growth. Although, that is a valid point, there is zero population and over growth is not an issue.
Having a safe place for protection from the outside elements is essential. Rebuilding shelter for from the ground up will require experience in construction. Mr. Blake is 51 years of age, has a lot of experience in construction that will benefit the group by keeping them safe. Therefore, my third choice to save is Mr. Blake. Of course, many will probably disagree because he is the second oldest male of the twelve the first is 66. The fact is just because he is one of the older individuals does not make him elderly. His experience in his field keeps the man strong and healthy.
Ensuring that the new society is healthy and free of disease will require medical experience and education. Becoming ill is unavoidable and eventually will take

Not everyone born free and equal, as the Constitution says, but everyone made equal." (Bradbury, 58). This shows that they do not allow anyone to be different and be their own person. One way they do this is by burning books to hide the differences in people. Books help violate the idea that everyone is created equal by advancing one's knowledge, highlighting the interests of different people, and by encouraging individuality. When you read a book, you further your knowledge on a subject or topic. In…

Locke explains liberty as the state of nature and as a state of equality in which no one has power over another, and people are free to do want they want. However, when people act on desires that infringe on other peoples’ life, liberty, and property, then it becomes license and violates the natural law. (b) The State of Nature cannot be a state of license because the State of Nature requires people to be equal and obey the laws of nature and to not infringe on the unalienable rights given by God. A…
memorable and effective scene was when Napoleon called in his nine dogs to attack Snowball during their last debate together about the windmill. This is a key turning point in the book, because this scene shows Napoleon’s first move towards his new government of the farm, which is communism. This action eradicates Snowball from his position of leadership, and gives Napoleon sole leadership of the farm. Snowball is then shown as a traitor, a liar, and a thief. He is blamed when things go wrong. The reason…

The Commandments, the news that Squealer spreads to the other animals, and the restriction of individual thought and freedom are all a kind of propaganda. “Bravery is not enough, loyalty and obedience are more important… when we shall find Snowball’s part in it was much exaggerated… Discipline, comrades, iron discipline.” -Squealer (page 60, chapter 5). The animals on the farm are arguing about Snowball’s bravery at the Battle of Cowshed, but Squealer is determined to find…
