For many years, health promotions and prevention has been the focus for healthcare providers, especially nurses. Health promotion seeks to improve a person or population’s health by teaching about and helps people become more aware of risky behaviors associated with different diseases. It encourages individuals to take preventative measures to prevent onset or worsening of a disease or illness. It encourages a healthier lifestyle (Edelman & Mandle, 2010). The strategy is to help people make health improvements or prevention before illness occurs. Health promotion is Education plays a key factor for obesity prevention. Early care education has helped to prevent early childhood obesity by setting standards across the country (Reynolds, Cotwright, Pohamas, Rosenberg & Chang, 2013). In the secondary level early treatment offers the best chance of resolution and reversal of excess morbidities (Campbell, Bryson, Price & Wake, 2013). Weight management clinics can reduce children’s body mass index. With their training and experience general and community pediatricians have the potential to effectively manage obesity. Managing obesity early can prevent further health conditions in the future. Consultation with parents and getting them educated plays an important role in keeping obesity under control. You may be referred to a specialist in the secondary level. They can keep records of weight, body mass index, medications and immunizations. Educating the parents of potential future illnesses can help the parent to take more responsibility to work with their child to keep their bodies at a healthy weight. Pediatric obesity continues to go largely unremarked in the secondary care sector and often silently accompanies other chronic conditions that require complete management (Campbell, Bryson, Price & Wake, 2013).
