God Gives You a Choice
Does God truly exist? This question is a huge topic that is discussed everyday between many individuals. The truth is, the only person who can come up with that answer is one’s own self. Right now, I am battling what I should believe in, or if there is anything to believe in at all. This is such a controversial topic to think about because nobody knows the true answer. You can only believe or have faith in what you decide is true.
Marilyn Adamson, author of is “There a God”, used to be an atheist. She wrote this article to explain how the earth is too perfect for it to be a coincidence. She believes there is a creator. In this article she says, “Much of life may seem uncertain, but look at what we can count on day after day: gravity remains consistent, a hot cup of coffee left on a counter will get cold, the earth rotates in the same 24 hours, and the speed of light doesn't change -- on earth or in galaxies far from us. How it that we can identify is laws of nature that never change? Why is the universe so orderly, so reliable? ”. (Marilyn Adamson, n.d.). Before I did research I used to think of the earth and science as we just somehow survive, and everything just works. I never thought of it as it being orderly or reliable. I did not really search for an explanation as to the why or how until I started questioning the existence of God. I believed that we were just a coincidence and somehow we were created on this Earth. Once I started wondering about how it is possible that we were made form nothing and how it was created or started, I would get really angry because it never made sense. Everything seemed perfectly made and put together. It kind of felt like we humans, and everything else around us, were made for a specific purpose. The author of the Existence-Of-God general purpose was not just to dismiss common disbeliefs but to reassure believers as well. The author said, “Once all of this evidence is taken into account, the argument from design concludes, there can be no question as to whether the universe just happens to be fit for life or whether it was deliberately created that way; the universe clearly exhibits the marks of intelligent design”.(Existence of God, 2004) If we were made for a purpose, or even if we were made at all, then there has to be a creator. Even if his true name is not God, he would still be known as our creator or our father. One of the things that makes me question if there is a God is the terrible things that happen in this world. “In brief, the problem is that the traditional conception of God implies that if God exists then he knows how to, wants to, and is able to prevent all suffering. If such a God existed, though, then we would expect him to prevent all suffering. Suffering, though, is a familiar part of the world around us; it has not been prevented. There is, therefore, the argument concludes, no such God”. (Existence of God, 2004) This statement directly proves to me that God, if there is one, is not at all this perfect higher being that everyone tries to argue. What kind of loving, passionate, or caring person would send anyone to an eternal life of suffering? I have heard people talk about how they cannot wait for non-Christians to be thrown into the lake of fire so they could pay for their sins. What kind of person thinks like that? Also, to be a Christian and to say something like that absolutely disgusts me. A personal blog states, “If you’re wondering also why if there ‘is’ a God why would there be a war going on right now, or why would the abortion agency still be in business, it’s not because God likes these things, but if he didn’t let you choose your own decisions, you’re answer to Him wouldn’t be genuine. He wants a truthful answer from you. If you reject Him and do not repent you will die, and suffer greatly. If you accept Him not only believe that
