What is Happiness? Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” Ask yourself that question. What is happiness? Is happiness having the most money in the world? Is happiness having the most expensive designer clothes and latest fashions? Is happiness having a car for every day of the week and a house for every season of the year? Or is attaining happiness as simple as waking up in the morning with a roof over your head? Is it having a partner who genuinely loves you? What is happiness? What is happiness? What is happiness? Happiness is all about being content. As long as you’re content with your finances, your relations to others, and your social relevance the rest is history! Everyone has heard the infamous line “money can’t buy happiness”. Some have argued that it can buy happiness. In reality you cannot physically go into a store and purchase a bottle of happiness. Therefore, this must have been said in a metaphorical outlook. Metaphorical of the idea that money can’t physically buy happiness, but it can buy the materialistic things that make some people happy. Things like cars, clothes, fancy houses and women with no morals. And they’re right money can attain all of those things, but for people who need true love, respect, honesty, and time it just simply won’t subdue. When I say time I mean time with a loved one. All the money in the world can’t bring a single person back from the dead. I’m sure Chicago native Kanye West could vouch that all his millions could never compare to the time he shared with his mother that he lost back in 2008. Money cannot buy you a spouse that truly loves you for you! Money cannot buy you respect. People with great deals of money are either respected for the success that they achieved while earning the money or people are simply afraid of the power that comes along having access to so much money! The key to being happy with your financial situation is to make the best of out of your situation and learn to become content with your used vehicle or your bus pass. Learn to be content with you small apartment. Learn to be content that you don’t have all the money in the world but enough to enjoy the simple things in life such as waking up in the morning.
“You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life”, as said by Albert Camus. When constantly looking for something, you can’t embrace what you already have. Take relationships for example, Both men and women commonly make the mistake of losing loved ones by chasing what may appear to be better. I’ll start off by saying no one is perfect. Some men chase women all day long; He may already have a woman who has the greatest body on earth, the face of an angel, and the brain of a bird! What good is all the beauty if she can’t hold an intellectual conversation? So that same man may chase after a smart beautiful woman who in fact is smarter than he is, but she also spends all day long reading writing and studying that she can’t love
