Westward Movement Essay

In the 1800’s the United States was expanding their land drastically.
Instead of expanding it north or south, they expanded it to the west.
These expansions benefited the United States in many ways. Since the west had a totally different climate, many new resources could be found.
Along with new resources came new opportunities. Migrating to the west sparked a new era benefiting exploration.
Resources were a major part in why the United States wanted to expand. Resources were very important for many reasons such as supply and demand,making money, and increasing the population. Back then, the United States did not have large factories that could produce everything that was necessary for everyday life. And back in those days, many agricultural resources were found in the sunny western regions.
Since the United States were freed from Britain, the population was booming because every religion was allowed. This meant that food, lumber, and cotton was needed. Except, cotton and many foods were grown in the midwest and west which meant that the United States needed to expand. If they were able to expand and mass produce necessary items, then they could sell many to other countries and make money. Without resources he United States would have to find another way to provide the necessary elements which would be more costly.
Freedom was one thing the United States had, and still has today.
Many people came here to break free from forced religion to seek their own. Expanding the United States territory to the west, opened up

freedom to many more people. Other countries that owned part of the
United States today back then had monarchs. This meant that everyone would have to obey him and were not able to say what they wanted. The west opened up this possibility to give so many more people a place to live in the safety of their religion. Enlarging the
