1. In your opinion, what is the purpose of our dropping the transmit power to such a low level?
My opinion would have to go with only having 1 node as shown or just a few nodes would be accessing this access point. With dropping the power output will help increase stability if there is a lot of interference with outside noise. This node might not need the extra performance or …show more content…
Those standards are to be followed. From backwards compability to each person being able to use mixed venders hardware and having them work. CCK is invoked with using a 64 8 bit word. This results in higher data rates. (Ciampa, 2013)
9. In addition to the added overhead of the RTS/CTS scheme, what else causes the drop in throughput you see? Are there other factors that can affect the throughput?
This again is the extra frames needed for the RTS/CTS and makes the throughput go down. Yes for example if a lot of nodes are connected to the same access point then the throughput can go down. This even occurs if the data rates are high to begin with the throughput will be lower because of the shared bandwidth between the connected nodes. (Ciampa, 2013)
10. In situations where 802.11g and 802.11b are coexisting, what steps might you take to minimize the impact of the presence of the legacy nodes?
I would have separate access points to help with the load of each B and G card nodes. Also by trying to space the different cards out from one another so the radio waves don’t mess each other. Sometimes this might not be possible but having separate access points instead of a mixed signal will help with the interferences they have with one another. (Ciampa, 2013)
