Mahatma Ghandi once said, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." In order to bring positive change in the world we need not only engagement with the outer world, but also engagement with our inner world. If we wish to see greater awareness in the world, we have to cultivate awareness. The medical career gives me the unique opportunity to express my many talents while benefiting human life. One of my most rewarding experiences has been having the privelage to represent my school amongst 20 other students at We Day. We day was created by Free the Children to celebrate the power of young people to create positive change. We Day is a day-long event that ignites a year-long program for change, called We Schools in Action. In cities across Canada, the event brings inspirational speeches and performances to young leaders. Students then bring that energy home to take action on local and international issues all year long. Free The Children's We Day is the celebration, and the inspiration for young people to change the world and available to any school that’s up to the challenge that We Day brings. In exchange schools are asked to make a commitment to the cause and to follow the We Schools in Action program, which includes taking local and global action throughout the year.They believe that we are the first generation that can truly end the worst forms of poverty, embrace we thinking and we acting and remove the barriers to youth being agents of social change. There’s no time to waste every single day we have the opportunity to make this world a better place, and everyone has a role to play.By pushing forward the boundaries of charity, social entrepreneurship and creating change. It’s a worldwide movement that proves anyone can change the world and revolutionizes how we make that change. Often times than not , we get so used to the love and affection we get from our parents and loved ones that we forget that we are just privileged to have them.None of us can help the situation we’re born into. We shouldn’t be made to feel ashamed because we have spacious homes, microwave dinners and GPS boxes that talk to us and help us get where we need to go. The guilt kicks in when we lose perspective on the little problems that arise amidst the privileges. After the impact I recieved from attending We Day, I was given the opportunity to go on a trip with my family to India.We visited a school in Bihar one of the poorest cities in India. During my first day at the school I was shocked by the poverty. There is no running water,
