I was hired as an Ambassador for the office of international education in NYIT. I started working in august. My job was to welcome the new international students, prior to their arriving as well as after their arriving. At first I was overwhelmed to the amount of responsibilities that came with the job. My employer was very understanding and she didn’t let me take the all responsibilities. She helped me in various ways such as what to write to the student about admissions, financial aid, orientation etc. I followed the template and returned the emails to the students, which turned to be very helpful to them. They would appreciate me and tried to find me while they were around the campus. The hardest and the most challenging part was during the orientation. I worked from eight in the morning till 5pm. The fall orientation was seven days long. This included picking up student from the airport, making them comfortable in the dorms and also introducing America to them. Mostly international student fear of coping up with the culture shock they have right after coming to the states. I had to make sure each student feels safe and not have the feeling of being lost. I felt that I was in the situation a couple of year ago when I first arrived in this country, feeling lost, not aware of how the negative temperature will feel like or how to cope up with the diet. Our job in the beginning of the day was to collect the student document (the passport and i-20) followed by the information sheet that has all their contact information. My job was to make the copies of the entire document and make folders for each and every student and submit to the DSO. The job was very critical because the documents were very important to the students as well as to the school. My next job was to ensure that the students are going to the right advisors right after their check-in and also ensuring they are enrolled full-time as because the DHS dont allow international student to take less than full-time credits. Soon after their registration the students were take to an auditorium where they gain more information about the school such as where to go if they are sick or how to seek for a job on campus. They were also given informations on maintaining their F1 visa status. For international students it is very important to ensure that stay in their student visa status because a slight mistake can make them fall off the status. Right after the important come the session where we play ice breaker games and also tell them about my experience being an international student. In this process they
