Vivaldi (1678 ­ 1741) And His Four Seasons
The composer I am researching is Vivaldi. He wrote many songs but his most famous one is a song called four seasons. This song, as well as all his others were written in the baroque period. Most people think that
Vivaldi was one of the composers to have helped baroque music to evolve to impressionist style.

Vivaldi was born and raised in Venice. His father was a violinist at St.
Marks and many believe that Vivaldi got his early musical schooling at home. Not much is known else is known about Vivaldi’s childhood, which some find ironic because of Vivaldi’s close association with the press. He studied to be a Christian priest and became one when he was 25. In the same year he was made maestro by the Ospedale Della Pieta (a charitable religious foundation for the education and upbringing of female orphans). He was known as “The Red Priest” because he was a priest and had red hair. Thus started his career as a violinists. The song “Four
Seasons” represents spring in how kind and rejoicing it sounds. The shrill but musical melodies placed in this song represent the birds singing. The crescendos represent flower buds opening and animals waking up from their slumber. The frequent melodies in different pitches and times represent that we are all rejoicing that the long hard winter is over, we just do it in different ways. Summer starts out slow and heavy because the heat is heavy and we all enjoy those frequent lazy days when we just lie in the heavy heat. Then it springs into a fast paced bit which shows the chaos of summer sports and camps. It alternated between these a lot

which I think is a great representation of summer unpredictability. The last bit is rush, which reminds me of the back to school rush. Autumn’s reputation of the same beat makes me think of a teacher telling the rules multiple times to an unruly class, but in­between this beat little strokes of genius happens.
