Nespresso’s Vertuoline Object Analysis

For the purpose of this assignment I chose to analyze a duel home use coffee and espresso maker manufactured by the brand “Nespresso” called the “Vertuoline”. The Vertuoline as stated above is a new and innovative coffee brewing machine. The machine which uses capsules, brews single servings of coffee and espresso in less than a minute. Very compact in size, and simplified in operational use the machine is run with the push of a single button. Capsules made specifically for the machine as encoded with bar codes to make it extra user friendly, the machine simply reads the barcodes in specific capsules inserted and prepares your beverage. Currently Nespresso’s Vertuoline is only available and sold here in North America as it was specifically marketed toward north American customers who enjoy the option of a large cup of coffee as opposed to a single shot of espresso. The machine as stated above, is used to brew coffee and espresso drinks from the convenience of ones home, although this is not it’s sole purpose. Nespresso easy operation and innovative technology was manufactured with the purpose of not only making brewing coffee easy, but also brewing it at a higher quality, comparable to those produced at coffee shops themselves. For example if you look at the beans used in Nespresso capsules they are far from ordinary. The beans used with the machine are said to be the top two percent of beans hand picked from all over the world. From brazil, to Ethiopia and even India. These hand picked Arabicas are proof of the Virtuolines higher quality coffee. ( Damion, 2014 ) The vertuoline was unveiled by Nespresso on the market in February of 2014. (Lanson, 2015). The vertoline is predominately made up of high quality plastics and metals which make it pretty clear that it is not an ancient product by any means and fitting of it’s release date. Although there are currently plenty of competing coffee makers on the market the vertuoline does have some very distinguishing traits. One of these traits is the actual brewing process itself. Instead of simply dripping a hot stream of water down the middle of an inserted capsules like some other machines may resort to, the vertuoline was introduced with ‘Centrefusion” technology. What this entails is instead of the average process I mentioned before, the vertoline machine actually spins the inserted capsules as they brew at a rate of about 5000 rpm. The fast spinning then moves the water around the inserted capsule due to a created centrifugal force which allows it to make full use of all the coffee in the capsules and avoiding diluted or watered down cups. The machines also have built in lasers which read the capsules barcodes and allow it to be so easily operated. ( Damion, 2014). The Vertuoline coffee machine was made to be used at ones leisure. Though many tend to prefer using it in the morning, as that is often when people drink their coffee, the machine can be used as needed day or night. The machine as previously stated was manufactured by Nespresso which is actually a smaller branch of the more well known parent company Nestle. Made for all coffee lovers alike the machine is generally purchased by adults over the age of eighteen. The Vertuoline is sold at limited retailers and runs
