UTC: The Place to Be
High school students all over the country have the same thought at one point in their high school career: what to do after high school. The average high school student attends college upon graduating from high school. However, at some point students will have to make what could be the toughest, most stressful decision as a young adult: where to attend college. College is full of great times and memories, but deciding where to go can be difficult. The University of Tennessee Chattanooga is an excellent choice for any prospective student seeking a satisfying college experience because of its beautiful campus and unique recreational amenities.
The University of Tennessee Chattanooga (UTC) is located only a few blocks from the urban area of Chattanooga, a city that is both highly industrial and rich in natural beauty (chattanoogafun.com). Claiming more than 600 industries, Chattanooga lies at the foot of Lookout and Signal Mountains where the Tennessee River forms Moccasin Bend. “These sites possess historical significance as well as beauty in a city steeped in the heritage of the Civil War. The campus is clean and safe with friendly staff and friendly students” (utc.edu).

Chattanooga has also gained a reputation as one of America’s most bicycle-friendly cities (Adler 40d). Other off-campus activities include taking a stroll on the Walnut Street Walking Bridge, walking, or running on the thirteen-mile Riverwalk along the Tennessee River, rock climbing, and white-water rafting. In 2010, UTC opened the new Aquatic and Recreation Center (ARC). The ARC features one large multi-sport court, a forty-four foot indoor rock climbing tower, fourteen thousand square feet of exercising space and equipment, small and large aerobic rooms, and an indoor track. The ARC also features a lazy river, a five lap line swim area, thirty person hot tub, water basketball and water volleyball courts, and a two story high, 157 foot long water slide (utc.edu). This facility is the perfect place to relax after a stressful class or exam. It is also an excellent place to burn all of the extra calories that college
