Learning teams are essentially groups made up of various class members, as assigned by the class facilitator. The learning teams are labeled alphabetically, and can contain any number of students, depending on the facilitator’s preferences. Near the beginning of the academic quarter, the instructor will assign class members to a respective learning team. Students are notified through their personal forums which team they are assigned to, and at this point the students can immediately access their own team’s forum and begin to communicate with their team mates.

In the learning teams environment, team members can communicate with each other in real-time via posts to their team’s forum.
