The University Art Museum Case Analysis

I. Relevant Facts/Background
The Art Museum is a building on the university premises that is providing a place for the art collection of a university. The building was given to the university by an alumnus around 1929. The wealthy son of the university's first president served as the museum's unpaid director until his death. He brought a few extra collections to the museum during his service, and while serving as unpaid director, none of the collections was ever shown to anybody except a few members of the university's art history faculty. IV. Recommendations
I recommend the possible solution for the museum which is forming a more unified board to decide the future direction of the university. The governing body, the search committee, may bring to mind a collectivist council, but they do not share a similar set of goals and values. This is shown by the presence of the economist within the council. The Dean probably has final say over the results of any decisions made by the committee. It is also easy to understand that the members of the committee do not get compensated equally. Based on title it would be apparent that the dean governing over the council makes more money than other members who came from other departments within the university. With this in mind, the university organization is a very weekly organized which is missing some very important characteristics which are the keys to the structure. The most apparent characteristic of organization missing from this equation is formal written rules. The mission statement of the museum has not been written down, and has not even been considered of in the first place. When the most recent director took over, he was not given any guidelines to follow while he ran the museum and simply set in motion his own personal goals.
