Understand the need for secure handling of information in health and social care settings
1.1 Identify the legislation that relates to the recording, storage and sharing of information in health and social care.
The data protection act 1998 is the legislation that relates to the recording, storage and sharing if information d all our in health and social care. We record all our information on our care plans which are signed and dated. The care plan itself is kept in a safe place requested by the client themselves. The sharing of this information is on a need to know basis and should only be shared in a closed room. When passing on confidential information to the office manager, l ask t speak to them in private where no one else can over hear.

1.2 Explain why it is important to have secure systems for recording and storing information in a health and social care setting.
Any information is confidential and is only shared on a need to know basis. It is important that information can only be gained by authorised persons only. There are secure systems that keep this information confidential and safe. It is the law to adhere to the data protection act. Care homes have offices which are locked and all confidential information is secure and out of reach from unauthorised person.

2.1 Describe how to access guidance, information and advice about handing information.
Whenever you’re unsure about anything you should always seek advice and support whether it is from your colleagues, senior care and managers in the office. You can also access the employers hand book, policy and procedures for the company. The internet can also be used for further information as it is updated on regular bases. When in a client’s home and you suspect that abuse may be going on involving the person living with them you wouldn’t record it in the care plan you would inform a manager straight away in a secure
