To share experiences Communication is essential as a carer when meeting the needs of adults. It is a basic requirement of my job role to communicate with individuals, their families and other members of staff on a daily basis. Communicating with other staff members ensures effective team working and continuity of care. It also ensures any health and safety issues are recognised and reported. After completing a visit, all care workers write a detailed entry of what tasks they have performed during the visit and any information that may need to be monitored. There is also a communication sheet in all service users files that care workers, family members and any outside professionals can write on with any necessary information. There are also bowel charts to monitor bowel movements so that it is easily noticeable if a client becomes constipated. We also have dietary intake forms for certain client’s files to ensure variety when preparing meals and to monitor the amount eaten.
