Unit 1/ ACORN NATURE AND PERSPECTIVE
1. Accessibility - the degree of ease with which it is possible to reach a certain location from other locations; varies from place to place and can be measured.
2. Built landscape - features and patterns reflecting human occupation and use of natural resources
3. Centralized pattern - clustered or concentrated at a certain place
4. Clustered/ agglomerated - if the objects in an area are close together
5. Cultural attributes of a place - language and religion; economic features such as agriculture and industry; physical features such as climate and vegetation
6. Cultural landscape – fashioning of a natural landscape by a cultural group
7. Direction: absolute - based on north, south, east, west
8. Direction: relative - directions such as left, right, forward, backward, up, and down based on people's perception of places
9. Dispersed/scattered - if objects in an area are relatively far apart
10. Dispersion/concentration - where features are spread over Earth/ kept in one place
11. Distance: absolute - the distance that can be measured with a standard unit of length, such as mile or kilometer
12. Distance: relative - any measure of what it takes to overcome the separation between places, can be money, effort, distance, traffic - not just moving people but freight, ideas, information
13. Friction of distance - a measure of how much absolute distance affects the interaction between two places
14. Generation – a group of individuals belonging to a specific category at the same time
15. Location: absolute - the exact position of an object or place, measured within the spatial coordinates of a grid system
16. Location: relative - describes a place in relation to other human and physical features
17. Natural landscape - a physical landscape or environment that has not been affected by human activities
18. Network - the areal pattern of sets of places and the routes (links) connecting them along which movement can take place
19. Random pattern - a pattern with no specific order or logic behind its arrangement
20. Scale: global - interaction occurring at the scale of the world, in a global setting
21. Scale: local - a spatial scale that is essentially equivalent to a community
22. Scale: regional - interactions occurring within a region, in a regional setting
23. Sequent occupancy - sequential imprints of occupants, whose impacts are layered one on top of the other
24. Signage –
