Understanding the forces for change in an organisation:
Task 1.1.
SWAT Procedure for re-organisation of the operations room.
Strengths: New faces to work with, i.e. new boss and supervisors and new people to train and work alongside ,less distraction and confusion, clearer picture of situations, improved communication throughout the operations room.
Weaknesses: Same machinery to work with, old slow kit, lack of communication between different teams ( surface and air picture teams ), personal relations.
Opportunities: Review of operations room.
Threats: Not really any threats as the decision would be made by the senior member of the team.
Know how to identify and plan change in an organisation:
Task 2.2,2.3,2.4.
An example of change was when we had to re-organise the operations room and the teams that were sat in certain places in the operations room, as the operations room teams used to sit next to one another i.e. air picture teams and surface picture teams these now had to be separated, at first this seemed to be an easy change because the teams worked well together because they worked next to each other . we had planned for a few days for the change and after the final exercise the change came into force, within the few days of planning ideas were bought upon the senior team as to were the operation teams would sit and a dated to when the change would happen, the move was made and the software was re-set to the specific specification of the operations room team member, and a few days later was another air exercise, to which the teams work more efficiently and controlled, the concentration was a little better too. Financial factors of the move didn’t really effect the move to much with only a few of the machines needing to be re-set, human factors of the move was that the teams were still working together but not next to each other, whilst ensuring co-operation at all times.
EXPLAIN HOW TO COMUNICATE WITH AND INVOLVE PEOPLE TO FACILITATE EFFECTIVE CHANGE
As an example for this type of change i will use the change of my operations room change on board HMS Manchester, it was a change that few people liked as the air team and surface team sat together during exercises and operations, the change was implemented to separate these teams as
