There are numerous health care approaches related to the Psychological perspective of Classical Conditioning, one of them is Aversion Therapy. Aversion Therapy is recognized as the most successful form of therapy within the Classical perspective. It basically consists of re-association, for example, and in its most simple form, an alcoholic will take something known as Antebuse, an injection which causes him to feel immense pain, become violently ill, and suffer horrendous bouts of vomiting, each injection lasts three months. This horrible pain should replace the alcoholic’s pleasant associations of alcohol with horrible ones, which over time, once he has stopped taking the Antebuse, will prevent him from drinking again because of the association between horrible pain, and alcohol. Aversion therapy is also used to treat simple nail biting, smoking, and drug abuse, it was also previously used against homosexuals, in an attempt to convert them from gay to straight, and this though was not successful,
