Although in some cases it may be true that several of these traits can be learned, the best leaders naturally possess most or all of these traits from an early age, exhibiting their leadership abilities by displaying dominant styles, sociability and assertion from as early as their primary level. During their formative years, leaders that are made are usually those individuals that are less dominant, less assertive and introverted; these behaviours are maintained as children move into adulthood, however as they strive to become leaders, leadership behaviours will develop as they gain experience and receive some formal training in this area. It is through this experience and training that these leadership traits will be strengthened over time as the individual embarks on a path of self discovery and leadership development in an effort to extend their leadership style.

The Role of Transformational Leadership in Organizational Performance

In any successful organization, transformational leaders can be easily identified and are usually considered invaluable assets. These are the leaders who motivate their teams to perform at the highest level and beyond. They are also interested in the development of team members, participate in frequent coaching activities, lobbies on behalf of the employees/ followers, inspire them towards greatness, give more than the expected to the
